Self-Help Groups (SHGs) List 2026: State, Block-wise & Village-wise

Self-Help Groups (SHGs) stand as a powerful example of how collective effort can transform lives. Built on trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility, SHGs have become an effective Way for social and economic empowerment—especially among women and marginalised communities.

What Are Self-Help Groups?

Self-Help Group is a small, voluntary association of people—usually 10 to 20 members—who come together to address common problems. Most SHGs are formed at the community level and focus on saving money, accessing credit, improving livelihoods, and supporting each other socially and emotionally.

Self-Help Groups

Members contribute a small amount regularly, creating a shared fund that can be used for loans within the group. Over time, many SHGs become financially linked with banks and government programs, enabling access to larger resources.

Objectives of Self-Help Groups

  • To encourage regular savings.
  • To provide easy access to credit.
  • To reduce dependence on Loans.
  • To promote financial Literacy.
  • To enhance self-confidence and leadership.
  • To support social awareness and collective decision-making.
  • To Sell Products Made By SHGs in Open market Through SHE Mart Mission.

Role of SHGs in Women’s Empowerment

One of the most significant impacts of SHGs has been on women’s empowerment. By managing savings, handling loans, and participating in decision-making, women gain financial independence and confidence.

  • Start small businesses (tailoring, dairy, handicrafts, food processing).
  • Gain leadership and communication skills.
  • Participate actively in family and community decisions
  • Improve their social status

SHG–Bank Linkage Programme

The SHG–Bank Linkage Programme connects SHGs with formal banking institutions, allowing them to access larger loans without collateral. This initiative has played a crucial role in expanding financial inclusion in rural and semi-urban areas.

It helps members build credit history and reduces dependence on informal lenders.
